Various routes can be taken. Our favoured route from the ferries is:
From the north west of France, follow signs for RENNES; then NANTES; take the A83 [ signposted BORDEAUX ].
If flying into Nantes, follow the signs for A83 , turning right as you exit the airport.
Come off at Junction 7, ST HERMINE. Payage from Nantes to here costs around 6 euros. [ there’s a very good service station / autoroute café / shops/ nice toilets/ museum/ tourist information just before this exit ‘Aire de la Vendee’]
At the roundabout, after exiting the Payage, turn right towards LUCON
Drive through the villages of St Jean de Beugine and Ste Gemme La Plaine You will then reach the busy junction with the N137. Turn right towards LUCON
Macdonald’s is on your right; you then pass several big shops before reaching Le Clercs on your right. Also good drive in bakery [ windmill design]. It’s a good idea to stock up at this Le Clercs
At the big roundabaout just after Le Clercs, take the exit signed Les Sable D’Olonne and Mareuil sur Lay.
This road takes you on the outskirts of Lucon to another roundabout. At this roundabout, turn right, towards la Roche sur yon and Mareuil sur Lay. D 746. You are now about 5 minutes drive from the house.
Continue to head for Mareuil sur Lay at subsequent roundabouts [ there are some roadworks in the area]
When you see a 70kph sign, signposted La Frise, you will see a service station on your left and then a furniture shop on your right. At La Frise, turn right for Corpe
2/10ths os a mile further on, you will see a cluster of trees on your left. You have arrived. Turn in and drive down for Les Tournesols.
