Various routes can be taken. Our favoured route from the ferries is:
From the north west of France, follow signs for RENNES; then NANTES; take the A83 [ signposted BORDEAUX]. If flying into Nantes, follow the signs for A83 , turning right as you exit the airport .
Come off at ST HERMINE. [ very good autoroute café / shops just before this exit ‘Air de la Vendee’]
Follow the signs for ST HERMINE; drive through the town [ towards Nantes] [ good supermarket CASINO on your way out of the town – useful for ‘first shop’ and it’s open Sunday am until 12:15]
Take the right turn to join N148 after leaving the town [ signposted NIORT and FONTENAY-le COMTE]
Continue along N148; drive through the villages of ST ETIENNE des BRILLOUET and POUILLE
Turn left off the N148 at the D30 crossroads, signposted L’HERMENAULT [ if you’ve come along A10 then the A83 at NIORT, you will need to come off A83 at FONTENAY-le- COMTE. [or if travelling from la Rochelle] Head for Fontenay but turn left onto the N148 [signposted Nantes] before reaching the town. Follow the N148 until you reach the D30 crossroads then turn right onto the D30]
Follow the D30 into L’HERMENAULT; turn 2nd right AFTER the PROXI shop [1st right is a no entry] You are now on the D104 [signposted SERIGNE and LONGEVES]
Bear left, signposted SERIGNE; continue past the Chateau walls [on your left] Turn left IMMEDIATELY AFTER the calvaire [ crucifix] onto narrow road signposted Les Moullieres. This road becomes rather narrow in the wooded areas.
Bear right at the fork and drive straight on; Les Moullieres is the
first bungalow you come to on your right. Open the gates, if closed,
drive in and make yourselves at home!
